Inconsistencies: Law and Grace: Page 48

Inconsistencies:  Law and Grace

Jesus Christ, who was

4 made under the law (Galatians 4:4)

8 was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers (Romans 15:8b).

Christ taught the Jews to observe the law and to keep the Sabbath days.

1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do (Matthew 23:1-3).

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:19).

15 If you love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15).

10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all (James 2:10).

Of the Kingdom Church it says in Acts 21:20: Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law.

The believers in the Kingdom Church believed that Jesus Christ was their Messiah and they were keepers of the law.

6 BUT NOW we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter (Romans 7:6).

15 We are not under the law but under grace (Romans 6:15),

that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:4).

8 Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law (Romans 13:8).

We are told to

1 stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (religion/perceived good works) (Galatians 5:1).

We are instructed,

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days (Colossians 2:16).

In regards to diet,

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer (I Timothy 4:4-5).

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work (Romans 11:6).

Tithing was preached under the law.

BUT NOW, II Corinthians 9:7 states: Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

When Jesus sent the twelve out, He told them to...

6 go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Matthew 10:6).

BUT NOW, there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile (Galatians 3:28; Colossians 3:11).

All are saved by grace alone, through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

20a By the deeds of the law no man will be justified in his sight (Romans 3:20a).

Under the Law, Jesus spoke to those under the law:

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain (conditional) mercy, (Matthew 5:7).

BUT NOW, God has transitioned His mode of witness to the world from the Priestly Nation of Israel who had been baptized at Pentecost with the Holy Spirit and had been enabled to witness to every man that heard them speak to hear their words in his own language (Acts 2:6)

to now, when God has concluded the Jews in unbelief, that he might have unconditional mercy upon all (Romans 11:32),

both Jew and Gentile alike.

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, (not by keeping the law or works), but according to his mercy he saved us (Titus 3:5).

Today, we do not look to the Nation of Israel and her people to present their Kingdom Gospel.

Every member of the Body of Christ, Jew or Gentile are ambassadors of Christ and have been given the ministry of reconciliation (II Corinthians 5:18-20) to proclaim the Word of God to all unbelievers.

At the moment one trusts in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord as their only means of salvation, they are regenerated and renewed by the Holy Spirit.

And all believers, Jew and Gentile alike, are not under the law, but under grace, and are all His witness to the world.

14 For IF ye forgive men their trespasses, (THEN) your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15 But IF ye forgive not men their trespasses, (THEN) neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:14-15).

BUT NOW we are instructed...

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32).

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses (Colossians 2:13).

When we have that same spirit of forgiveness toward others that we see in our Heavenly Father, it is for our benefit, as much as, if not more than, for the one that offended us.

When we choose not to be led by the Holy Spirit, we are walking in the flesh.

We sin.

When we offend or hurt anyone, we need to quickly give a sincere apology.

Knowing that Jesus already paid the penalty for our sin, having forgiven us of all trespasses, we can also say we are sorry to God and at the same time be grateful and thankful for having been forgiven of all trespasses.

Gratitude should fill our hearts.

When we beseech God’s forgiveness, it puts in question if we truly believe God has made a full atonement for our sins.

Turning our thoughts toward the will of God, we can then say to ourselves,

13 I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).

We can move forward and not live in the land of regret and guilt.

6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

Jesus told His disciples,

22bTake no thought for your life what ye shall eat, neither for the body what ye shall put on (Luke 12:22b).

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again (Luke 6:30).

In the early Jewish Kingdom Church,

44 all that believed that Jesus was their Messiah were together, and had all things common;

45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need (Acts 2:44-45). BUT NOW we are instructed,

8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel (I Timothy 5:8).

Paul said,

10b we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat (II Thessalonians 3:10b)

and

12 we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness we work, and eat our own bread (II Thessalonians 3:12).

And Galatians 6:10 states, As we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
