Jesus Came to Offer a New Commission: Page 72

Jesus Came to Offer a New Commission

The third purpose for Jesus to visit the earth was accomplished after He had risen from the dead and ascended to heaven.

The Lord Jesus Christ was seen of Saul of Tarsus, the chief of sinners (I Timothy 1:15),

the one who had consented to the stoning of Stephen (Acts 7:58; 8:1),

who was commissioned by the Council in Jerusalem to round up the Kingdom Christians in Damascus (Acts 9:1-2).

In His glorified risen body, Jesus Christ appeared from heaven in a great light, was immediately recognized by Saul, who immediately submitted his will to the Lord, and was ready to serve Him.

3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do (Acts 9:3-6).
