The Mosaic Covenant: Page 22

[LISTEN]

6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the Lord will answer him by myself:

8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the Lord (Ezekiel 14:6-8).

12 And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (II Chronicles 7:12-14).

21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die (Ezekiel 18:21).

This Mosaic Covenant had the IF–THEN PRINCIPLE, the PHYSICAL BLESSING– PHYSICAL CURSING principle, and continued to be prophesied and applied throughout Israel’s history.

IF the Nation of Israel kept the law, THEN God would PHYSICALLY BLESS them with children, crop growth, victory in war, etc.

But, IF they did not follow God’s commandments, THEN God would PHYSICALLY CURSE the Nation of Israel, and her people would have a very difficult life characterized by wars and deportation to foreign lands.

Beginning in Genesis 12, God began to prophesy His Covenant with Abraham and his seed.

Through Moses, God promised His people that at a future time, they would become a Kingdom of Priests (Exodus 19:5-6; II Chronicles 13:10, 23:18; Isaiah 61:6; Ezekiel 43:19; I Peter 2:5, 9), a peculiar treasure above all people, an holy nation (Exodus 19:5-6; I Peter 2:9).
